Classrooms have Extron control systems and some other technologies that allow the user to utilize the Audio/Visual settings of the podium and computer system. Each classroom is equipped with new High Bright Laser Projectors, a podium PC, AirMedia wireless technology, and an HDMI wall plate. Certain classrooms may have a motorized projector screen and a secondary display.

Each classroom has an Extron keypad control panel with the following buttons: 

  • Display On/Off – Turns on/off all equipment with a single button press. 

  • PC – Built in Micro PC and wireless keyboard/mouse. Located inside the AV cabinet. 

  • Wireless – Connect a laptop, tablet or phone wirelessly to the AirMedia device for presentation. 

  • Laptop – Any laptop or device that has an HDMI output can be plugged into the HDMI wall plate

  • Volume/Mute – Controls the audio playing via the classroom speakers.

Utilize Classroom Equipment 

  • Press the “On” button to turn the system on. The projector and the confidence monitor should have powered on.  
    .

  • You’ll see the “PC” button is now red in addition to the “On” button. This signifies that the PC is the current source being displayed. The PC login screen should now be seen on both displays.  
    .

  • If the PC login screen isn’t showing, tap the space bar several times to wake the PC up. 
    .

  • Using the wireless keyboard, you can log into the computer with your SJU credentials. (Note: if the keyboard isn’t responsive, ensure that the switch is toggled on and the batteries are charged.)


Connecting a device Wirelessly

  • Press the “Wireless” button on the control panel. The screen should now change to display connection instructions. (Note: The laptop/device must be on SJU Mobile or SJUGuest WiFi to connect)

  • From your device, open a browser. In the address bar, type in the IP address from the bottom left of the display. 
    .

  • Click the Start Presenting Button

  • Click the OS button to download (Windows or Mac)

  • Run the downloaded file to start Air Media (Windows EXE or Mac DMG)

WINDOWS: 

  • Enter the 4-digit code you see on the lower left corner of the screen. Click OK 

  • You are now connected to Air Media for wireless presentation and will see the controls 

  • You are now connected to Air Media for wireless presentation and will see the controls 

  • If you have no sound, press the unmute button to enable audio playback. To stop presenting, press the Stop Button 

MAC: 

  • Run the Crestron Air Media 

  • Click Open if prompted 

  • Follow the steps in the AirPlay Guidance 

  • Click the AirPlay Menu in the top system bar. Enter the 4-digit code you see on the lower left corner of the screen, and click OK. 

  • To Disconnect, turn off AirPlay in the top System Bar 


Connecting the device directly

Press the “Laptop” button and connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI wall plate (shown below). Be sure to connect the other end of the HDMI cable to your device.

When your class is over, ensure that you’ve signed out of the PC and shut down the system. Press the “Off” button to power the system down. The projector and the confidence monitor should have powered off.
