The Cisco WebEx tool is built into Canvas for seamless teleconferencing communication with your students. The steps below outline how to utilize the Canvas iteration of WebEx:




Step 1: Click on the course Settings. Click on Navigation.


Click the “3 dots” to the right of Cisco WebEx, then click on + Enable.


To finalize the change, scroll to the bottom of the page to click Save.




Step 2: To complete the one-time setup click on Cisco WebEx from the course navigation, click on setup.


Verify your Time Zone is correct, then click Save.

 
Click Authorize to authorize WebEx in this course. *


*You may be redirected to the Cisco WebEx Sign-on page – Sign on using your Sign-on St. John’s (OKTA) credentials.




Step 3: To create a new meeting. Click on the Virtual Meetings tab, then click New Meeting.




Step 4: For a one-time meeting -- fill in the Name, Meeting Date, and Duration criteria.  


Toggle the session type to Meeting, then set the recurrence to No Repeat.


Click Create Meeting to finalize.




Step 5: For weekly recurring class meetings -- fill in the new meeting parameters. Then toggle the Recurrence to Weekly.


Set the Parameter to Every 1 Week. Check off the days of the week (s) when the class meetings will be held.


Set the Ending date, then toggle the ‘check bubble’ to the left of the ending date*.


*Do not yet click Create Meetings. Once carefully proofread, click Create Meeting.





Step 6: To manage your meeting click on the Cisco WebEx tab from the course navigation then click on Virtual Meetings.


From this screen, there are options to Start (Launch) the meeting, Edit the meeting, or Delete the meeting.




Step 7: For students to join no further action is required by the instructor.


At the time of the meeting, a student clicks on the respective course, clicks the Cisco WebEx navigation tab. Then clicks Join.

Step 8*: Although the best practice is for students to join directly through Canva, should you need arise to share the meeting link with students, start by clicking the Cisco WebEx tile on the Signon St. John’s application page.






Step 9*: Click on Meetings from the left-hand navigation. Click on the name of the meeting.



Step 10: Click on the Copy ‘Rectangle’ in the upper right-hand corner. Note that now that this information is copied to your computer’s clipboard.


Should the need arise to send it to students, it can be pasted into an announcement, inbox message, e-mail, or similar in one click.



To paste the text anywhere right-click -- select paste, or alternately on your keypad simultaneously hold ‘Ctrl' and press ‘V'.
