In Panopto, the share settings for Personal Folders themselves cannot be changed. If you have a group of videos you wish to share with someone, or if you wish to organize your videos using a folder system, you may want to Create a new folder inside of your “My Folder.” These sub-folders can then be shared as needed with other users. For information on sharing content from inside your My Folder, please see our IT Help article: How do I share content from My Folder in Panopto? (linked).

There are two ways to create a folder inside of My Folder. You can either click on the “+ Add Folder” button, or use the “+ Create” button. This article walks you through how to use both of these features.

Option 1: “+ Add Folder”

1. Access Panopto and select My Folder (yellow circle below).
   .

2. Select “+ Add folder” at the top of your My Folder content (yellow circle below).

3. Add a title for your new folder within the prompted field and hit enter (yellow arrow below).
   .

4. Your new folder is now created.
   .

Option 2: “+ Create”

1. Access Panopto and select My Folder.
   .

2. Select “+ Create” in the top left corner of your screen (yellow circle below).
   .

3. A drop down window will appear; select “New Folder” (yellow circle below).
   .

4. You will now be prompted to adjust the settings for your folder. The only required field is the Name, or title, of your folder, though we do strongly encourage you to have “Add this folder to your “My Folders” list, to make locating the folder easier for you. When the settings look the way you want them to, click “Create Folder” (pink circle below).
   .

   • Name your folder (yellow arrow below)

   • Add a description for your folder (green arrow below)

   • By default the permissions for your newly created folder reside within your parent folder. If you wish to alter this option you may do so here (orange arrow below).

   • Select add this folder to your My Folder list (blue arrow below).

5. If you wish to change permissions for you new folder you may do so in this window. For instructions on how to share permissions, please see the Sharing Permissions section in How do I share content from My Folder in Panopto with others? (IT Help article coming soon!)

6. Your new folder is now created.
