The share settings for the “My Folder” itself in Panopto cannot be adjusted. However, you can add folders inside of My Folder which can be shared, as well as share individual videos from inside the My Folder. This article will instruct you on how to share content from your My Folder with others, either by sharing the video itself (See “Sharing a Video with a User in Panopto” section below) or by adjusting the share settings for the video and copying the link (see “Adjusting Sharing Permissions” section below).
.
Sharing a Video with a User in Panopto
.
Log into Panopto with your SJU credentials and click on My Folder (yellow arrow below). Next, place your mouse over the desired video and select the gear visible in the preview window (green circle below).
.A window will open. Select Share on the left-hand side of the screen (yellow circle below). To add an individual or group, locate the “Add people and groups” field to share your content (green arrow below).
.
.
To share with one person, continue to step 4. To share with multiple users, please skip to step 5.
.
To share with one person, enter an individual's name or email address in the “Add people and groups” field (green arrow below). A list of users will populate beneath. You may have to scroll down to locate the individual you wish to share a video. Select the correct person’s name, then continue to step 6.
.
.
To share with a group, type a group name in the field (green arrow below). A list will populate beneath. Scroll down to locate your desired group. This option is typically used when sharing with your class. Please note that Panopto groups created from Canvas courses do not have the CRN in the title, but reflect the exact name of the course as it appears in Canvas.

After selecting who to share your content with, you can set viewer roles, disable email notifications, include messages, and send a transcript. When the share settings are toggled on to your specifications, click Send (pink circle below).
.The Viewer role allows viewing and commenting (green arrow below), while the Creator role allows someone to edit the video. We recommend maintaining the default “Viewer” role when sharing your video with others.
.Email notifications are on by default but can be toggled off (yellow circle below). You can add a message in the message field if desired (orange arrow below), and enable transcript sending by checking the box (purple arrow below).
