Faculty at St. John’s can submit their Midterm and Final grades to Banner/New UIS from either New UIS or their Canvas courses. This article will discuss how to submit grades from within a Canvas course. For instructions on submitting grades using New UIS, please see the following IT Support articles:

Part 1: Enable “Submit Grades to Banner”

If you do not already see “Submit Grades to Banner” in your Canvas course navigation, you may have to enable it. If you see “Submit Grades to Banner” in your course navigation menu, please skip to Part 2: Submitting Grades.

  1. Open your course in Canvas.

  2. Go to Settings and select the Navigation tab.

  3. Drag and drop the “Submit Grades to Banner” item from the bottom section to the top “enabled” section and select Save when done.

  1. At the bottom of the page are three options - “SUBMIT,” “CANCEL,” and “SAVE.”

    • Submit - this will send your grades over to Banner immediately.

    • Cancel - this will remove any changes you have made since you last submitted/saved grades on this page.

    • Save - this will save your progress without sending the grades to Banner, allowing you to close the page if needed.
